THE CHEAP GOURMET DISCLOSURE POLICY: Effective January 1, 2010 ~ Inspired by JohnChow.com
The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) requires bloggers who receive any type of compensation for content published on said blog, to provide a disclosure statement and let readers know how that income is generated. I'm all about transparency because, like you, I am fed up with false advertising and consumer deception.
The truth of the matter is, I love blogging, but it does take a lot of time and like most people, I need to earn a living. Therefore, this blog is monetized with the intention of earning income from every post and page.
The Cheap Gourmet blog is a personal cooking and gourmet food blog written and edited by Kathy Browning. This blog accepts cash advertising, sponsorship, and paid topic insertions if the topic/product/service is a good fit.
We also generate income by publishing Google Ads and Google Search. Feel free to use the search feature to locate your favorite recipes on The Cheap Gourmet or other cooking blogs. And of course, if you see something you like from a Google Ad on the sidebar, go ahead and click on that link to explore the merchant's offerings. We'll likely only make a penny or two, but they add up over time.
We generate income with the inclusion of select affiliate programs. Take time to click on the ads placed on the sidebars and bottom of each post and by all means, order something from these merchants. It took time and effort to scout out the best companies who, to the best of our knowledge, are ethical and offer a good value. If you purchase something through our affiliate links we earn a commission.
Nearly all product reviews involve some form of compensation, usually a coupon for free product or some cool swag. And, while we might receive something in return for a review, we don't let it sway our opinion. We tell it like is and sometimes that's not what the company desired. All we can say is, we're fair and honest and will provide truthful information in a positive manner. Send us your freebies and we'll be happy to review your product or service too.
We accept and keep free products, services, travel, event tickets, and other forms of compensation from companies and organizations. These items are clearly identified at the bottom of their corresponding blog post.
The views and opinions expressed on The Cheap Gourmet blog are purely our own, with the exception of paid insertions written by guest bloggers and represented companies. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question.
The Cheap Gourmet blog does not contain any content which might present a conflict of interest. All content is ranked PG-13 and we strive to make this blog family-friendly.
